Sawyers Mayflower on the Sea of Time (World Premiere)

Worcester offers the most significant musical celebration of the 400th Anniversary of any city in the world with the World Premiere performance of Philip Sawyers’ soaring and dramatic oratorio, Mayflower on the Sea of Time sung by soprano April Fredrick, baritone David Stout and the over 200 young voices of the Worcestershire Mayflower Chorus, all conducted by the Artistic Director of the BBC Symphony Chorus, Neil Ferris. In the first half of the concert, Kenneth Woods conducts a selection of works highlighting the rich trans-Atlantic connections between the UK and his home country of America, including Copland’s Appalachian Spring and Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis.
