Following their triumphant New Theatre Royal debut in 2017, the renowned musicians of the English String Orchestra return to Lincoln with a programme celebrating the riches of the Romantic string repertoire. Elgar’s Songs for Strings is a lovingly made adaptation of several of Elgar’s most admired songs and miniatures for string orchestra by Donald Fraser. Dvorak’s String Serenade is one of the most popular of all works for string orchestra, recorded by the ESO to great acclaim. Finally, violin superstar Zoë Beyers performs Ralph Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending, chosen again this year as Britain’s most-loved piece of music. Kenneth Woods conducts.
